(Correspondents: Yang Xiaoying and Ma Simin) To implement the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress and the gist of General Secretary Xi Jinping's speech made during his visit to Nankai University, and grasp, inherit and exercise the soul of Nankai University's patriotic spirit, teachers and students from School of Materials Science and Engineering attended the flag-raising ceremony at Tian'anmen Rostrum on November 1, 2023, as part of the Party Day Campaign themed Dedication to Public Interests, Acquisition of All-round Capability, and Loyalty to the Party and Love for our Home Country. The campaign is hosted by the Youth League Committee and organized by the Master's Student Party Branch of the School. Led by Xing Lifang, Director of the School Party Committee, and Li Gang, Deputy Director and Vice Dean of the Party Committee, the leaders of the School Youth League Committee and more than 30 student backbone members of the Party and Youth League participated in this ceremony.
When boarding the observation deck of Tian'anmen Rostrum, the dawn appeared with the darkness gradually faded away. The exhilarated teachers and students waited for the raising of Chinese national flag in excitement and pride. With the sunrise, the national flag guards marched with vigorous steps and came to the pole carrying the flag. Amid the national anthem, the flagman raised the flag. The audience, watching the national flag, was deeply touched by the solemn ceremony. After the ceremony, the teachers and students expressed their pride: watching the flag-raising ceremony at Tian'anmen Rostrum was meaningful and inspiring, leaving us with an indelible and precious memory; and it was the treasure influencing our entire life, and enhancing our patriotism, contributing to the dream of becoming a strong country, and stimulating our dedication to the country.
After the flag-raising ceremony, the teachers and students visited the Road of Rejuvenation Pavilion of National Museum of China. The Road of Rejuvenation, through the reflection on Chinese people’s fight and efforts for rejuvenation of the Chinese nation after the Opium War in 1840, when China was gradually reduced to a semi-colonial, semi-feudal society and suffered enormous hardships, particularly the glorious cause of national independence and the liberation of the people, and to the prosperity of our country and the well-being of our people under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, demonstrates why history and people chose Marxism, the CPC, the socialist path and the reform and opening up, fully showed why history and the Chinese people must always hold high the great banner of socialism with Chinese characteristics, adhere to the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics, and persist in the theoretical system of socialism with Chinese characteristics. Teachers and students watched representative cultural relics of different periods and realized that the Chinese nation has become a proud and active member of the community of nations, and the glorious prospects of great rejuvenation have been displayed in front of us. The dreams of the Chinese people will surely be realized.
In order to further study and implement the spirit of the National Conference on the Work of Public Communication and Culture, inspire national spirit, and maintain national identity, teachers and students paid a visit to Palace Museum, walking along the central axis. They traced the historical ups and downs of the Chinese nation and her internal and external troubles in East Warm Pavilion of Hall of Mental Cultivation. They immersed themselves in the brilliant achievements of traditional Chinese culture through the blue bricks and dazzling cultural relics of the Forbidden City, solidified their cultural confidence and self-improvement, and are resolved to contribute to the enhancement of cohesion and construction of a socialist cultural power.
It was reported that through this patriotic course, the School of Materials Science and Engineering will encourage teachers and students, under the guidance of patriotism and tenet of“Dedication to Public Interests, Acquisition of All-round Capability, and Aspiration for Progress with Each Day”, always concentrate on the needs of the Party and national strategic development, show their talents in the grand cause of Chinese path to modernization, and forge ahead bravely and vigorously in the era of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
